Leonard J. Ostrander was born into a musically rich heritage that began in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. His first classical piano
studies at the age of nine were with the late Gerald Snyder of the Snyder Duo. Mr. Ostrander went on to study with Jose Ramos Santana
and Marilyn Neeley at the University of Maryland where he was awarded the Bachelor of Arts in piano performance. His graduate studies
with Thomas Hecht and Sandra Shapiro were at the Cleveland Institute of Music where he later met his wife, gifted pianist Jeanette
Davis, with whom he formed the Davis-Ostrander Duo. Their collaboration resulted in winning second prize in the prestigious Ellis
National Two-Piano Competition. Following the long tradition of two-piano music, he also performed with his sister, Katherine Ireland,
as the Ostrander Duo at The Juilliard School at Lincoln Center. Mr. Ostrander also studied with Sylvia Rabinof while pursuing graduate
studies in Choral Conducting at the University of Miami.
